Tubbercurry Golf Club
Competitions. Over the past couple of weeks, there has been a high turn out of members playing in the various competitions and last Sunday was no exception despite the attraction of another small ball game.
The 18 Hole Stroke was sponsored by club legend Joe Burke of Burke’s Garage. First was Bunninaden’s finest, Denis Scanlon with 69, Second was Michael Larkin also with 69, whilst Charles P Scanlon was third with 70.

Last week, Heineken were the sponsors of the 9 Hole Stroke competition with the major prize claimed by Maynard O’Boyle, second was Eugene Burke and third went to Terry Coleman. The Junior prize was won by Darren Leonard from Tourlestrane.

On Sunday 28 August, Wehrly Brothers (Jewellers) in Sligo kindly sponsored an 18 Hole Stableford where John Brennan was in first place with 39 point, followed by James McGuire on 36, and Eugene Burke with 35.

High Boys. In the Friday competition, Maynard O’Boyle continues his winning trail and is the league leader as we enter the home straight – word has it from a high he will not be eligible for this competition next year!

20 Birthday. As you know, we celebrate the twentieth anniversary next weekend with a number of events including 4 Ball Scramble (Friday/Saturday) – all members are urged to play. Already the sheet is pretty full and you can book a tee time by contacting Ger Roache at 086 3275327.

Friday night will see a reception in the clubhouse where the “Founding fathers”, past Captains, past Presidents and all past and current members are invited to attend for the launch of a DVD of the history of the club – please put this date in your diary as it promises to be a historic night.

Photos/Memorabilia. The club would be grateful for old pictures, newspaper cutting and any other memorabilia as they wish to display these items over the weekend. If you would like to temporary “loan” a specific item, please drop it into John Gillespie in an envelope with your name added, in order that it can be returned to you afterwards.
