Tubbercurry Golf Club
Competitions. On Sunday last Coen’s Service Station Tubbercurry sponsored an 18 Hole stroke with first claimed by Tony Burke (36) and second claimed by another Tubbercurry former great John Brennan (35).
Next week. We have an 18 Hole Stableford kindly sponsored by Coolaney/Mullinabreena GAA, which is designated as one of the events in the Golfer of the Year competition.
20th Birthday. The twentieth anniversary of the foundation of the club took place recently with the founding fathers, past Captains and past Presidents attending the launch of a DVD chartering the history of the club. This was followed by a celebration BBQ where the winners of the 4 Ball Scramble competition were presented with their prizes. The DVD is available at the clubhouse or from any Committee member at a very reasonable E20.
25 Card Drive. For all members and non-members who like a game of “25”, you are invited to compete in a 25 Card Drive on Thursday 22 Sept at 8.30 at the clubhouse.
Doubles Competition. We have now reached the conclusion of the CP Scanlon sponsored competition where old hands Padraic McDonagh/Tommy Grady play Jimmy Walshe/J T Marren.
Singles Competition. In this Roger McCarrick sponsored event we have a final pairing of Tourlestrane’s Christy Wimsey versus Charlestown’s Paddy Colleran.
Junior Competition. We have another Sligo V Mayo in this final with Dylan Craig from Charlestown competing against Tubbercurry’s Ronan Forkin.
Golfer of the Year. As we reach the final stages we have a two most consistent golfers in the club vying for the top prize with Christy Wimsey (28) just a short head from Michael Larkin (28) followed by Darragh Kilcoyne (22) and Padraig Moran (21)
Club Repairs. We are very fortunate to have Randal Cross attending the club each Friday to repair golf clubs or grips. Randal will be present at six o clock to give you advice and attend your repairs.
Fixtures. Please enter you name on the sheet for the very popular Belleek Pottery scramble scheduled for October 2nd.
