Competitions
. James Marren of East West Express sponsored Sunday’s 18 Hole Stableford. With the weather, changing from warm to rain during the course of the day resulted in the early birds catching the prizes.

The winner was John Lawrence (41pts) who carried over his good form in the Cecil Ewing, to pip another Cecil Ewing panelist (and brother of the sponsor) John T Marren, also with 41, and in third was Banada’s Tommy Clarke (39).

Jack O’Sullivan. Best of luck to Tommy Clarke and his pairings on Thursday next (3 July) where they take on Claremorris.

Mixed Foursomes. Unfortunately, we bowed out of this competition when Ennicsrone took the honours on a score of 3 to 2. The pairings on duty were; Keith Feehily/Brid McHugh, Padraic McDonagh/Kathleen Grady, John Brennan/Bridgie Clarke, Jimmy & Breege Walsh, Damian Cawley/Anne Conlon.

Cecil Ewing. Tony Burke orchestrated a great victory over Ballinrobe and now await the winners of Swinford/Mulranny in the next round. His selections read as follows; John T & Bertie Marren, John Lawrence & Maynard O’Boyle, Brendan Leonard & Eamon Wimsey, Frank Durcan & Padraig Moran, Tony Grubb and Tommy Kelly.

Junior Cup. Captain Jack Reade has selected his panel for the forthcoming match play on 2 July in Claremorris. The panel is John Brennan, Mark Burke, Keith Feehily, Ger Henry, John O’Flaherty, Joey Wimsey, Christy Wimsey.

High Boys Club. There was no competition due to the inclement weather on Friday last, hopefully we will have a reprieve this week.

President’s Prize. Please add your name to the sheet in the clubhouse for Billy’s President Prize on Saturday 16th July.

Next week; We have an 18 Hole Stroke sponsored by Eamon Gallagher from Rochford Gallagher & Co. Solicitors.

All outstanding prizes will be presented on Friday next at 9.30pm – if you have a prize to collect please attend this ceremony.
The Open Week scheduled for the 4 to 9 July will be a 3 ball Scramble over 18 Holes. This is a fund raiser for the club and is open to all members and non-members alike. There are a host of prizes on offer with the leading awards as follows;
One weeks accommodation in a luxury 3 Bed apartment in Spainfor 3 plus Green Fees at Westport Golf ClubGreen Fees for the Heritage & Spa Resort (Laois).
